Allen Curtes
Al is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and holds an MS from the University of Michigan in Water Resources Management. Working as a water resources planner in his early career, he was employed by the Great Lakes Basin Commission and the State of Alaska DNR. While in Alaska he served as consultant to a land management study of the Haines-Skagway area which eventually led to the establishment of the bald eagle reserve near Haines. Other professional interests include solar water heating design and inspection.
From 1996 through 2010 Al and his wife Jeanie were partners in a remote Alaskan lodge on Chichagof Island near Glacier Bay where they guided groups on explorations of the area for wildlife viewing, photography and fishing. Today they still travel the waters of southeast Alaska on 37' Nordic Tugs chartered out of Juneau.
Al recently completed nine years on the board of the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, a pro-active organization that has conserved over 5000 acres through easement and purchase. Al joined the STCP Council in 2013.
